Loudoun Transformation Seeks Neutral Venue in Leesburg
Loudoun Transformation Seeks Neutral Venue in Leesburg
Loudoun Transformations’ vision is to establish an influential and united partnership with Marketplace and Church leaders where the central focus is prayer. The objective is to promote change for the spiritual climate through prayer and fasting, and transforming the people and institutions of Loudoun County with practical demonstrations of love and acts of compassion. According to Jack Stagman (Loudoun Church Alliance), the Loudoun Church Transformation definition of Marketplace/Church leaders is “believers who are leaders in business, government, education, media and the arts who share our vision and mission. These Marketplace leaders function as equal partners together with Church leaders, working together as one, with a passion to transform and impact society through their spheres of influence.” A number of cities in America and in other countries, especially in Central and South America have experienced dramatic changes in the quality of life, such as a decrease in crime rates, using a similar model.
Currently prayer gatherings are taking place at three locations; the first meets every Tuesday morning from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM at the Train Station in Purcellville. An Ashburn weekly transformation prayer group has recently begun in Ashburn under the leadership of Pastors Clancy Nixon and Jeff Jacob, meeting at the offices of the new Good Shepherd Alliance Center of Hope facility at noon every Thursday for one hour. For more information about Ashburn, please contact Pastor Jeff Jacob at 571-223-2963 or email at hearts4harvest@aol.com. The Leesburg Transformation has been meeting monthly at the Methodist Church near the old theater on Market Street but will probably start meeting weekly when it locates a neutral venue in Leesburg. I recently asked Jim Cryer who is a member of the pastoral leadership team at Chesapeake Church International in Leesburg about the current status of Transformation Leesburg. Jim is excited about these events because he believes the Lord is leading and energizing it. He stated that “there have been remarkable results in several other cities and I'm hopeful we'll experience something significant here as well. When considering these kinds of activities, I always look for scriptural principles that indicate this is something God has committed to bless. The Scriptures speak of God's concern for the poor, the weak and the homeless over and over. Likewise, we know God loves unity among his people; “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity…” [Psalm 133] and that He wants to redeem and restore wherever sin and rebellion have brought harm, which is basically everywhere the human race has existed without God. This movement, as far as I can judge, is based primarily on unity among Church and community leaders and prayer. I believe when God looks at a city, he looks first of all at the Churches and when Church leaders unite in prayer--not for their own Churches, but for the whole city and its people--I believe God is eager to answer those prayers and bring blessings to the entire community.”

We discussed the added ingredient that is vital to the success of these gatherings. The involvement of leaders from all segments of society: local government officials and agency leaders, business owners and anyone in a place of service and/or influence in the community. Cryer said, “It all belongs to God and I believe He responds with a level of interest and willingness to move powerfully when we recognize and pray for this type of broad involvement. I would love to be a part of a real move of God that touches society at many levels.”
Cryer claims, “By depending primarily on prayer rather than programs and various other activities that have been attempted for years with minimal results, we are acknowledging God's sovereignty over it all. Once a spiritual breakthrough is achieved and God begins to answer prayers--as has happened dramatically in several places--then some of the "lesser" things can be undertaken and we can expect to witness powerful results.”
