Story time and the school supply collection

By Cheryl Bacak

Story time: The Loudoun County Public Library and the Friends of the Gum Spring Library are sponsoring a family story time beginning Sept. 16. The program is for children ages 2 and older with their parents or caregivers. Stories begin at 11 a.m. the third Tuesday of each month in the community room of the Dulles South Safety Center, 25216 Loudoun County Parkway.

School supply collection: Area stores, in cooperation with the Loudoun County Department of Family Services and local nonprofit human service agencies, are holding a drive in August to collect school supplies such as bookbags, spiral notebooks, crayons, composition books, looseleaf notebooks, pencils, etc., for children who are in need. Donations can be dropped in the appropriate collection boxes at Giant grocery in South Riding and other Giant stores in Loudoun. Loudoun nonprofits, government agencies and elementary schools will distribute the supplies in time for school in September. For more information, call the Department of Family Services at 703-771-5375.
