The newest brave on the warpath

The Washington Redskins introduced newly acquired defensive end Jason Taylor at a news conference July 21 at Redskins Park in Ashburn.

The 11-year veteran and six-time Pro Bowler was acquired from the Miami Dolphins on Sunday in exchange for a second-round pick in next year's draft and a sixth-round pick in the 2010 NFL draft.

"The tragedy we had on our first day of training camp has turned out to be a very special day today," said Redskins head coach Jim Zorn.

The Redskins' starting defensive end and 12-year veteran Phillip Daniels suffered a season-ending knee injury on the first day of training camp. The Redskins also lost second-year defensive end Alex Buzbee, who suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon on the first day of training camp.

The loss of two defensive ends spurred owner Daniel Snyder and executive vice president Vinny Cerato to pull the trigger on the Taylor trade.

Taylor described the past 24 hours as a "whirlwind."

"It all really got accelerated in the past 24 hours," Taylor said. "I was getting ready to move into the Dolphins' training camp this Friday and when I got home I got a call from my agent saying the deal was in the works." He said he plans to play more than one year, honoring his two-year pact.

When asked if his well-covered appearance on 'Dancing With The Stars' and his interest in pursuing a career in Hollywood would get in the way, Taylor replied confidently.

"It's football season now. There is no entertainment business stuff right now, so there's no dancing -- only to celebrate the big plays."

He added, "My game hasn't changed in 11 years. I love to get after quarterbacks. I'm looking forward to doing whatever I can to help this team win."
