Purcellville Library: If you haven't had a chance to stop by the Purcellville Library this summer, it will be outdoing itself with fun activities for the 2008 Summer Reading Fun for Everyone Program and the Teen Summer Read Scene.

It may be sweltering outside, but inside you can have fun: Wednesday, July 23, 1 p.m. "Jonathan Austin -- Magic and Juggling"; Wednesday, July 30, 1 p.m., "Stories With a Twist by Barbara Lawson"; Thursday, July 31, 3 p.m.," Link Up With Legos"; Wednesday, Aug 6, 1 p.m., "Mysterious Reptiles Alive."

Teen Summer Read will keep you thinking even on the hottest days. For the aspiring sleuths out there, the third annual teen film competition "It's a Mystery!" is in progress through Aug. 2. "Solving Crimes" with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Department is Monday, July 28, at 7 p.m. The After-Hours Teen Center with fun and food is every Friday, 7-10 p.m.

For a complete list of Loudoun County Library summer offerings and activities, please stop by your library and get the brochure, or contact Purcellville Library, 540-338-7235.

Purcellville Preservation: The Purcellville Preservation Association membership meeting for 2008-2009 will be coming up soon. Join your neighbors to help preserve our rural cultural heritage and our historic properties for future generations to enjoy. For more information, call 540-338-2238.

School’s coming: Getting ready for school sales have already started.  Enjoy your summer right here in Purcellville with the great activities offered by Franklin Park. 540-338-7603. For ongoing swim lessons and pool hours, call 540-338-7492.

Farmers Market: Do visit the Farmers Market on Thursdays, at the Gazebo, 4-7 p.m.

Ice cream delight: Have you checked out our own local merchants? Ice cream, great for our lazy hazy days of summer at Gruto's.
