Redskins predict Obama's win
After taking one presidential election cycle break, the superstition of the Redskins predicting who will take the Oval Office is back on track.
Superstition has it that the fate of the presidential candidate from the incumbent party lies in the hands of the Redskins.
If Washington wins its last home game before the election, the incumbent party's candidate wins; if Washington loses, the incumbent party's candidate loses.
In keeping with the superstition, on Nov. 3, the Washington Redskins lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-6 at home. The next day, Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama defeated Republican nominee John McCain.
Since 1940, the only time the superstition hasn't held true was in 2004, when the Green Bay Packers defeated the Redskins 28-14 but Republican George Bush held on to the presidency over Democratic challenger John Kerry.
