Public safety briefs
The following news came from Loudoun's public safety fields this past week.
Residents encouraged to participate in Sheriff's Office survey
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has launched an online survey to determine citizens' attitudes toward the agency's performance. County residents are invited to participate in the Internet survey through Dec. 1, spokesman Kraig Troxell said.
The information gathered from the survey is for informational purposes only and will remain confidential. Participation in the survey requires less than 10 minutes, Troxell said.
If you would like to participate, log on to www.loudoun.gov/sheriff and click on Citizen Survey 2008.
For those without Internet access, a printed version of the survey is available at the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office administration building, 880 Harrison St., Leesburg.
Groundbreaking
Ground was broken for a future Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office eastern Loudoun station during a ceremony Nov. 6 in Sterling Park, Sheriff's Office spokesman Kraig Troxell said.
The station will be the first county owned, stand-alone Loudoun sheriff’s station. Its location will be on East Frederick Drive between Briar Patch Park and Rolling Ridge Elementary School.
The 18,000-square-foot facility is expected to provide substantial public safety services to the community, reduce travel time to Sheriff's Office facilities in Leesburg. and expand the Sheriff's Community Policing program.
The facility will also offer a community meeting room, Troxell said.
