Freedom football coach McIntyre resigns
Freedom High School head varsity football coach Tom McIntyre announced his resignation on Nov. 18 after a meeting with his players.
McIntyre has been the Eagles' football coach since the South Riding school opened in 2005, guiding Freedom to a 14-26 record in four seasons (three varsity and one junior varsity).
Before taking over the Freedom program, McIntyre was a head coach at Allegheny and South Charleston (W. Va.) high schools, and an assistant coach at Loudoun County, Liberty and Phoebus.
McIntyre will remain a Social Science teacher at Freedom.
"Tom McIntyre represents what is good about high school athletics," Freedom athletic director Rusty Lowery stated in a press release.
"He conducted himself with class and taught his athletes to put their team before individual accomplishments. He supported the school climate and will remain a vital member of the Freedom faculty. The Freedom High School athletic department thanks Tom McIntyre for his efforts and years of service."
