Loudoun Valley earns spot in state golf tourney
The Loudoun Valley Vikings shot a four-player total of 304 at the Northwest Region golf tournament Oct. 14 at Forest Greens Golf Club in Triangle to place second in the team standings and secure a berth into the Group AAA state tourney.
Battlefield, who finished second behind Valley at the Cedar Run District tournament, won the region title with a team score of 294. Battlefield's Andrew Lister shot a 5-under par 67 to claim top individual honors.
The Vikings were led by junior Zack Bosse with an even par round of 72. Sophomore Scott Davidson (75) and juniors Brandon Deleonardis (78) and Brian Hickey (79) rounded out the scoring for Valley. Bosse tied for fourth place in the field of 72 players and Davidson’s round was good for seventh.
The Vikings will compete in the AAA state tournament for a second consecutive year, Oct. 20 and 21 at Independence Golf Club in Richmond.
