17-year-old dies in crash
A 17-year-old Potomac Falls High School senior died in a crash near Lansdowne early Oct. 19.
Heather Hendrickson, of Sterling, was driving west on Route 7 shortly after 7:30 a.m. near Belmont Ridge Road when she attempted to pass another vehicle, lost control of her car and hit a tree in the median, Virginia State Police Trooper Christopher Ihara said.
Hendrickson died at the scene of the crash. She was not wearing a seat belt, Ihara said.
Six extra grief counselors are on hand at Potomac Falls to talk to students affected by Hendrickson's death, Loudoun County Public Schools spokesman Wayde Byard said.
“They will be there as long as needed,” Byard said.

Tragic in so many ways.
