Palin stumps for McCain in Leesburg

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin urged a crowd of a few thousand to hire her and Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) for vice president and president during a “Road to Victory” rally Oct. 27 in Leesburg.

Accompanied by her husband Todd, Palin entered the makeshift stage at J.R.'s  Festival Lakes to the sounds of country music singer Dolly Parton's “9 to 5” and was introduced by Tito Munoz, or “Tito the builder,” as Palin called him.

Munoz, an American citizen who immigrated from Colombia, owns a construction business in Prince William County. Palin said Munoz “wants to know why the heck are [the opposition campaign and the media] going after Joe the plumber.”

Joe the plumber, or Joe Wurzelbacher, is an Ohio man who has become something of a symbol of the McCain campaign after questioning presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois) on whether or not he believes in the American dream.

Tito says, 'I was born in Colombia, but I was made in the USA,'” Palin said.

During her speech, Palin primarily focused on the economy, promising to clean up corruption on Wall Street and cut taxes.

We have a pro-private sector, pro-growth plan that will get this economy back on track,” she said, adding that she and McCain would cut the business tax to keep American businesses from relocating overseas and double the credit parents get for each of their children.

Senator Obama has an ideological commitment to higher taxes,” Palin said, saying Obama's tax plan calls for a bigger, more controlling government.

John and I don't think the government should take your hard-earned money,” Palin said. “We don't think that you should be working for government -- we think government should be working for you.”

Palin also said she and John McCain would develop new energy sources that would create hundreds of thousands of new jobs and that she would be an advocate for families with special-needs children.

Palin called the Nov. 4 election “a choice between a politician who puts his faith in government and John McCain, who puts his faith in you.”

A group of Obama supporters protested outside as people walked into the rally, chanting, “Use your brain, don't vote McCain.”

During the rally, the McCain supporters chanted “Use your brain, vote for McCain,” to which Palin responded, “You betcha.”

Before Palin arrived, several local politicians spoke. Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chairman Scott York (I-at large) gave the welcome address, and Supervisor Lori Waters (R-Broad Run) provided an opening prayer.

We need a person who understands the threats and challenges we face, and that person is John McCain,” York said, calling Obama the “presidential candidate that's on training wheels.”

Other speakers included Keith Fimian, who is running for Congress in Fairfax County, U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10th) and Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell.

A men's choir from Ashburn sang the national anthem.

Hum....another traffic jam. Caribou Barbie coming to town. Big question...is she going to have to come out here to the boonies by way of Neiman Marcus in Tysons Galleria? Now there is a "middle class America" store if I ever saw one. Most "middle class" Americans can't even afford to walk into that store let along drop $75,000 on clothes. Embarassingly hypocritical.

Report Offensive Content

The middle class according to Obama is anyone making below $250,000. Maybe with Obama's tax cut/tax credit, people like Baby Boomer can shop at Neiman Marcus. Amongst the four candidates running for President and Vice President, Sarah Palin makes the least amount of money. She is more middle class than Obama has ever been. Her and her husband even ran a business which is something Obama has never done. I wonder whom paid for his Harvard tuition?

dpunty - spoken as a true republican. You miss the real point. When you parade someone around as a representative of middle class, you should at least have the common sense to dress them accordingly. But maybe this is just another reflection of how little McCain knows about middle class American.

dpunty - who paid for John McCain's tuition to the Naval Academy where he caroused and partied his way through and managed to graduate 894th in a class of 899? Could it have been my parents and grandparents with their tax dollars?
Hum...so you think if I am lucky enough to be making at the top end of that range (like $250,000) I would be able to spend $75,000 on clothes at Neiman Marcus. You must not have to manage your life on a budget. Heavens, I hope you aren't a financial planner by trade!

Baby Boomer: John McCain's family paid for his tuition to the Naval Academy not the U.S. taxpayers. Obama is the person who has represented himself as the "champion of the middle-class". When was he middle-class? He went to private schools in Hawaii and his own children go to private schools today but Sarah Palin's children go to public schools. She is more middle-class than Obama, Biden, or McCain. Obama is the one defining the middle-class anyone who makes less than $250,000 not me. As far as my own personal budgeting, of course I budget. I have worked since I was 13 (first as a babysitter than at Kmart during my high school years). I was a receptionist at the DC law firm and after two years, I become a legal secretary (I never went to college, I got this job when I was 18). I recently retired at age 42 from this position as I was able to save my entire salary the last 12 years of my career. We lived off my husband’s salary as a UPS driver during this 12 year period. We made good choices through our lives so far. We paid off our house in 15 years instead of 30 by making one extra mortgage payment each year. We didn’t eat out, go on vacations, or spend excessively and that is why we can retire now. Life is about choices we make not what the government tells us what to do.

Who paid McCain's tuition? From the Anapolis website: "One of the key benefits of attending the Academy is that the Navy covers your entire tuition, medical/dental care, room and board costs. You'll also receive a stipend every month based on your academic year."

We the taxpayer paid.Legacy admission to college- he sure did not get in on merit- is called affirmative action.

Delighted to have our Sarah visit and are looking forward to seeing her in person :-D

Although babyboomer displays his/her own elitist snobbery through the postings, those of us who aren't sipping the zombie-inducing KoolAid know that the much-touted wardrobe worn by Palin was purchased by private money and will be donated after the election. Unlike the plans of "The One" to TAKE private money and distribute it to whomever he wants. If it smells, sounds, and looks like Marxism ...

And we non-worshipers of "The One" are eager to get our dissension in now, before the TALIBAMA swings into full action (see the many attacks on the McCain/ Palin supporting folks and their property). After all, when "The One", Pelosi and Reid silence conservatives with their "Fairness Doctrine" (currently in the works) and when the mainstream media is as loyal to "The One" as is Chavez's media, there won't be much opportunity to dissent. And with ACORN being protected and expanded by "The One" and his cohorts Pelosi and Reid, voting will be a futile exercise.

So enjoy the freedom while we can.

"Sarah Palin's children go to public schools. "

Funny. Sarah's oldest son didn't finish high school (something about "trouble with the law" and choosing the military instead - why does "oxycontin" always show up in articles about him?). Pregnant daughter Bristol is not in school, nor is her baby's father (who has no intention of finishing high school). Her daughters Willow and Piper are seen everywhere with Sarah, so unless the GOP is providing tutors, they aren't in school either (why aren't they back home in Wasilla with Auntie or Grandparents?). Piper was recently seen carrying a cute little Gucchi purse that lists for $1,000. Trig, the Down's child, "should" be working with a developmental specialist - the earlier these children are started on a program, the more effective learners they become later in life. Far as I know, he is just being dragged around like mommie's blingage.

Get a grip. Those are not clothes like you and I wear clothes. They're campaign props, perhaps akin to the Greek Columns in Denver or press buffets. To concentrate on the cost of campaign items rather than the issues at hand is beyond petty and a distraction from what's really important, although I'm sure SNL will have a field-day. Combined, the campaigns will spend in excess of $2B on this election (not all of it wisely). Now, that's outrageous!

Our beautiful soon to be Vice President Sarah Palin is also would be better at leading our nation in the future after a McCain Presidency than Senator Barak Obama would be in leading our nation in the future starting in January 2009 because of three areas which are as follows: ideology , experience, and accomplisments. Ideologically she is a conservative. Experientially she has two years of executive administrative governing experience . When it comes to accomplishments she accomplished 3 major things which are as follows: government reform, the state budget and the economy, and wise use of natural resources. She reformed government by standing up to the big oil companies by breaking up the monopoly on power and resources. She insisted on competition and basic fairness which ended the control that the oil companies had on the state, and thereby returning control of the state back to the people. She lead well in the state budget by generating a surplus which came about by vetoing a half billion dollars of wasteful spending. Economically under her leadership she brought about the largest private-sector infrastructure project in North American history. She also suspended the state fuel tax, and when oil and gas prices went up dramatically, and filled up the state treasury, she sent a large share of that revenue back where it belonged - directly to the people of Alaska . On natural resources she has shown great leadership by beginning a nearly forty billion dollar natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence, so please vote John McCain for President and give to our beautiful soon to be Vice President Sarah Palin the opportunity that she deserves leading the nation into the future after a John McCain presidency.

Out of all four candidates, only Gov. Palin has executive branch experience. Gov. Palin's highest approval rating out of any sitting governor proves that she is a competent leader.

Because the liberal elites in this country are threatened by a woman with conservative values, they sought to destroy her. Fact is, she is far more qualified than Obama, who started running for president almost as soon as he got to the US Senate.

During Obama's short tenure in the US Senate, he has done nothing noteworthy. He has not authored any significant reforms or legislation. Moreover, Obama's own Democrat Party has controlled both houses of Congress since 2006. Yet, Obama hasn't done anything--except make flowery speeches.

Obama has received the biggest free ride in the history of American politics. During interviews, media liberals give Obama and Biden softball questions, while McCain and Palin get tough and/or trick questions.

The media has done things to Gov. Palin that they never would have done to a man. Frankly, the media has been repulsive in their coverage. Both Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin have a track record of taking on corruption, even if it meant standing up to their own party.

If Obama is elected, he will inherit Democrat majorities or supermajorities in both houses of Congress. This will give the Democrats an unprecedented amount of power. Power breeds corruption. When one party controls the White House and both houses of Congress there is no accountability and no oversight. It is like letting the fox watch the chickens.

Obama's desire to build a welfare state, coupled with a Democrat controlled Congress, will mean the biggest expansion of the federal government in history. This, of course, means more taxes.

Anyone also notice that the rally was held at a private location that required tickets to get into. The GOP does not like to see dissent any where near it.

I am sick of this spreading the wealth bull$hit class baiting that McCain is perpetrating. Anyone with children in Loudoun county is getting a free ride from people without children. The county spends over $12K per year per student. The county is taking money from people without children and giving it to people with children. A family of 4 is getting $24K every year for education. That is socialism, any republicans out there willing to increase their property tax to cover their children's education.... cricket cricket.... didn't think so.

If you own a house, you get to write off your mortgage interest, that is socialism. It is taking money from people who choose not to buy a ho
use and giving it to people who bought a house.

You like the roads you drive on, the police department, the armed forces, the FBI, CIA, NSA, fire department, anything and everything that the government pays for is socialism. It is taking money from people and spending it on things they normally would not have.

This socialism is just a last ditch effort my McCain to pull win this election.

I hope that most people see through it.

This just in, The Pelosi/Reid 2010 Tax Plan.

Beginning with the 2010 fiscal calendar, all paychecks will be delivered directly to congress. Anything congress is UNABLE to spend that fiscal year will be forwarded to individual states according to need as assessed by congressional committee. Individual states will then have one fiscal year to disperse these federal grants. Any funds remaining will be forwarded to residents of the states for their own personal use, again based on a needs analysis to be determined at a later date.

I do not fear Obama. He has no record of getting anything accomplished at the state or federal level. I fear the Pelosi-Reid agenda which I do not think represents the values of the citizens of the commonwealth and which Obama has demonstrated an unwillingness or inability to confront on ANY SINGLE ISSUE.
